Color Accuracy

Colors displayed on this website are digital approximations based on manufacturer-published RGB and hex values. The actual appearance of any paint color will vary depending on your monitor's calibration and color settings, the lighting conditions in your room (natural light, LED, incandescent, fluorescent), the paint's finish (flat, matte, eggshell, satin, semi-gloss, high-gloss), the number of coats applied, the surface material and texture, and the primer and base coat used.

Always test with a physical paint sample before purchasing. We display colors on a pure white (#FFFFFF) background for the most accurate digital representation possible, but no screen can perfectly replicate a physical paint color.

Color Matching

Our cross-brand color matches are calculated using Delta E (CIE2000), the industry standard for measuring perceptual color difference. These calculations are based on publicly available color data from manufacturers. While Delta E provides a scientifically grounded measure of color similarity, it is not a guarantee that two colors will look identical in all conditions. Factors like paint formulation, pigment concentration, and finish can cause two colors with similar RGB values to look different on a wall.

Our match confidence ratings (Near-identical, Excellent, Good, Approximate) are based on Delta E ranges and represent typical perceptual similarity under neutral lighting conditions.

Data Accuracy

We make every effort to ensure color data is accurate and up to date. Color values are sourced from manufacturer websites, published spec sheets, and official documentation. However, manufacturers may update color formulations, retire colors, or adjust published values without notice. If you notice an error, please contact us at hello@matchthatpaint.com.
